Clans are traditional social units in Scottish society, consisting of groups of families with a common ancestor and a shared surname. Each clan has its own tartan, badge, and motto, and is often associated with a specific region of Scotland. While the traditional role of clans as political and military entities has diminished over time, they still hold cultural significance in Scotland today. Many clans have active societies and associations that work to preserve and promote their heritage, and clan gatherings and events are still held throughout the country. Additionally, some clans continue to play a role in Scottish tourism, with visitors often seeking out their ancestral connections and participating in clan-related activities. **
